How Ice Cream is Made – Make Your Own Ice Cream!
Fun and educational for families, schools, groups and individuals
Making ice cream can be both an art and a science. Educated and inspired, completing ice cream and gelato programs conducted at Pennsylvania State University, University of Wisconsin, University of Florida, Ice Cream University in New Jersey and PreGel of America, our chief ice cream maker will share his ice cream knowledge, describing how ice cream is made from the udder to the scoop. We will talk about what is in ice cream, the mix process, freezing, hardening and why you might have ice crystals in your containers at home.
If we are in production, you will taste fresh product coming from our machines.
Then, just like the good old days you, will get the chance to make your own ice cream. We supply the ice cream mix, flavor, inclusions, ice, rock salt, and machine. You supply the cranking power. (We have back up electricity for mortals).
You will make about 2 quarts of ice cream. Prepare and enjoy it immediately or we’ll freeze your treat to enjoy anytime during your stay perhaps following a day in Acadia, shopping in town, lunch or dinner at Mainely Meat or after a round of golf at Pirate’s Cove. Sessions last about 1.5 hours
Available by appointment Monday – Thursday 10-4 and some rainy weekends
